Download as PDFIn the Vynova Wilhelmshaven GmbH proceedings, provisional insolvency administrator Dr Christian Kaufmann from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has stated that the energy-intensive – and therefore costly – operations have been stabilised for the time being.
To this end, the PLUTA team has in recent days held numerous discussions with banks, the State of Lower Saxony and further suppliers and service providers, as well as the other companies in the Vynova Group. A loan from the creditor banks Nord/LB and Volksbank Wilhelmshaven eG has ensured the continued operation of the plant.
On 12 December 2025, the Local Court of Wilhelmshaven ordered provisional insolvency administration for the company’s assets and appointed Dr Christian Kaufmann from PLUTA as provisional administrator.
Attorney Dr Christian Kaufmann said, “I am very grateful that the creditor banks Nord/LB and Volksbank Wilhelmshaven eG have been willing to support the proceedings through a loan. We are therefore in a position to meet the substantial advance payment requirements of the electricity and gas suppliers and thereby keep the business operating. This also means we can ensure at this time the protection of people, the environment and the facilities.”
In addition to Dr Christian Kaufmann, the PLUTA team comprises attorneys Mr Ingo Thurm, Dr Oliver Liersch and Mr André Gildehaus as well as business management experts Ms Nicole Neumerkel and Ms Vivien Doll.
Discussions with investors
The PLUTA team has held early discussions with parties who have proactively expressed interest in acquiring the company. The administrator has also launched a structured process of finding an investor, which is being supported by Deloitte GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, represented by Dr Stefan Weniger. Market outreach is planned for early January 2026. Dr Christian Kaufmann said, “Our goal is to find a long-term solution by March, if possible, and I feel confident that we can achieve this. The plant is in good condition and the workforce is highly committed despite the difficult situation.”
Vynova Wilhelmshaven GmbH is part of the Vynova Group, which is headquartered in Belgium. Since 1981, Vynova Wilhelmshaven has been operating one of Europe’s largest plants for the production of suspension PVC (S-PVC), a high-quality material that is used to manufacture a wide range of products for daily life. The company also produces vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), an essential building block for making PVC. Situated on the western side of the Jade Bight, a North Sea bay, the Wilhelmshaven site has direct access to Germany’s only deep-water port.
Vynova is a leading European PVC and chlor-alkali company. Its outputs play a key role in the manufacture of numerous industrial products and consumer goods. The group operates production sites in five countries. The application for insolvency relates solely to the Germany company.
