Wilhelm Weber GmbH & Co. KG begins restructuring as a debtor in possession – PLUTA partner Steffen Beck appointed provisional insolvency monitor

21 November 2025 · Stuttgart · Business Area Insolvency Administration

On 17 November 2025, Wilhelm Weber GmbH & Co. KG filed for debtor-in-possession insolvency with the Local Court of Esslingen, as the competent insolvency court. Dr Sebastian Mielke, a partner with Menold Bezler, has been named restructuring officer. The court has appointed attorney Mr Steffen Beck from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional insolvency monitor. He will monitor the proceedings while representing the interests of creditors.

Dr Mielke is working with managing directors Mr Stephan Meier and Mr Martin A. Bauer to identify ways to restructure the company. A structured process aimed at finding an investor to acquire the business will also be launched.

Wilhelm Weber GmbH & Co. KG is continuing to operate without restriction at this time. The salaries of the 120 or so employees are guaranteed for a period of three months thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law.

Wilhelm Weber GmbH & Co. KG was founded in Esslingen in 1925 and is active in the areas of toolmaking, plastic injection moulding and turning systems. In its 100-year history, it has specialised in the demanding field of multi-component injection moulding. The company had already begun restructuring in recent years, but management has felt compelled to continue these efforts within the framework of debtor-in-possession insolvency proceedings given the persistently sluggish automotive industry and the resulting decline in sales.
