JT Touristik Delivers Package Holidays for more than 30,000 Holidaymakers within six Weeks

20 November 2017 · Berlin · Business Area Insolvency Administration

The provisional insolvency administrator Dr Stephan Thiemann from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH came to a positive initial conclusion in the provisional proceedings for JT Touristik. Over the past six weeks, he and his team have managed to deliver almost all of the booked trips as planned. Only one per cent of the trips could not be delivered, and that was due to the insolvency of Air Berlin.

“The entire team is working hard to allow the holidays to be delivered for the holidaymakers. So far, we have been able to deliver 12,923 holidays for 30,769 people since the company filed for insolvency in mid-November. This is a very positive result, and I would like to thank all those involved,” said the PLUTA expert Dr Thiemann.

In the past few weeks, together with the restructuring team from PLUTA, the provisional insolvency administrator focused on finding a solution to deliver all of the holidays until the end of the year. The necessary start-up funding was provided so that it was possible to provide the trips as planned and to pay for the flights and hotel accommodation. The customers only have to pay the tour price after they return from their holidays, which means that they will not suffer any financial disadvantage as a result of the provisional insolvency proceedings. “The members of the JT Touristik staff are pulling together with us and are doing an excellent job in these challenging times,” added Dr Thiemann.

In parallel, the restructuring expert is holding discussions with potential investors, which are also making good progress. The administrator is currently in the process of evaluating the first offers. Dr Thiemann and his team expect to come to a result before the end of the year.

JT Touristik GmbH was founded in 2009 by Jasmin Taylor and currently has a workforce of 64 employees. By an order issued on 4 October 2017, the Local Court of Berlin-Charlottenburg had appointed Dr Stephan Thiemann from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as the provisional insolvency administrator for JT Touristik GmbH. Alongside Dr Thiemann, PLUTA’s restructuring team includes Ms Katja Alexander, Ms Ute Sambale, Mr Stephan Gittel and Mr Heinz-Joachim Hombach.
