Solution found for Bavarian location of education provider erlebnistage

11 November 2025 · Munich · Business Area Restructuring

The PLUTA team has found a follow-up solution for the third location (Bavarian Forest) in the debtor-in-possession proceedings for erlebnistage gGmbH. This means that all three locations will be maintained. Solutions had already been found for the Harz Mountains and Lake Schwerin sites.

The newly established Erlebnistage Bayerischer Wald e.V. association has taken over the business in the Bavarian Forest and retained all 20 or so employees, with retroactive effect from 1 October 2025. The parties signed the related purchase agreement in late October 2025. The Wolfsteiner Hütte lodge was included in the transaction and has also been acquired. Constructive discussions concerning the company’s Haus Wiesengrund and Haus Forellenhof properties are currently underway.

Ms Katharina Heimrath and Mr Tony Jäger, who had already been managing the Bavarian Forest site, will remain at the helm of the outdoor education expert’s business there. Both managers are working alongside board members Mr Alex Ferstl and Professor Dr. Werner Michl in the newly established association. The provider specialises in outdoor education experiences offered though class and group excursions that foster sustainable education and personal development.

Ms Katharina Heimrath and Mr Tony Jäger said, “The positive feedback we have received in recent months has encouraged us to continue operating the site with our experienced team. We are optimistic about 2026. We see potential here and want to keep growing our bookings.”

The buyer received advice on the transaction from Dr Hans-Peter Dannhorn from Dannhorn und Paeschke GmbH in Nuremberg.

Successful restructuring

Founded in 1986, erlebnistage gGmbH had been restructuring itself under debtor-in-possession proceedings since mid-December 2024. Attorney Mr Philip Konen and business management expert Mr Ludwig Stern from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH had been supporting these proceedings as general agents since that point in time. The PLUTA team also includes business management expert Mr Luca Reifenberg and attorneys Mr Ingo Thurm and Ms Denise Schäfer. Mr Tobias Hartwig from law firm Schultze & Braun was overseeing the proceedings as insolvency monitor in the interests of creditors. The proceedings were converted into regular insolvency proceedings on 10 November 2025 as planned, and Mr Tobias Hartwig was appointed administrator.

Mr Philip Konen said, “We have been able to restructure this well-known outdoor education provider thanks to our combined efforts during the debtor-in-possession proceedings. All locations will continue operating and the offerings will be maintained. This is a really positive outcome.”

Mr Luca Reifenberg added, “We conducted a very comprehensive transaction process for all three locations and spoke with many strategic investors. We have achieved the best possible outcome with the individual solutions. All of the parties involved have worked really well together over the past ten months.”

“I am delighted for everyone concerned that we have succeeded in finding a continuation solution for all three locations here in Germany. The hard work and commitment over these months have been well worth it. The new operators will maintain the offerings, and I wish them every success in their endeavours. This is also a good outcome for the creditors,” said Mr Tobias Hartwig.
