PLUTA team launches process of finding investor for ‘Heilbronn Falcons’

6 February 2026 · Heilbronn / Bayreuth, Germany · Business Area Insolvency Administration

Following the insolvency filing of Heilbronner Falken GmbH & Co. KG and with the ice hockey club continuing to fulfil its fixtures, it is time for the next step in the proceedings: provisional insolvency administrator Mr Peter Roeger from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has launched the process of finding an investor. The PLUTA team also includes attorney Ms Heike Metzger from Heilbronn and others.

PLUTA restructuring expert Mr Peter Roeger said, “We will conduct the process of finding an investor over the coming weeks. The club needs a financially strong investor going forward.” Experts at consultancy firm CF Consilio Forte will assist in the search for an investor, having already supported the same process for the Bayreuth Tigers two years ago.

Joint decision with the team

The members of the PLUTA team have obtained a comprehensive overview of the situation and held numerous discussions over the past few days. The attorneys have ensured the ice hockey team can fulfil its next fixtures, with a view to finishing out the regular season. The last game of the season is scheduled for 27 February 2026. The club will not be able to participate in the March playoffs on account of the insolvency.

With some players understandably keen to switch clubs, the insolvency administration experts have spoken with the team and reached a joint decision. The ‘Heilbronn Falcons’ players will stick together and the full squad will remain available until the transfer window opens on 15 February. At that point, a number of players (in the mid single digits) can leave for other clubs; two players have already agreed terms elsewhere. There will be an announcement on this in the near future in coordination with the other clubs.

Mr Peter Roeger said, “We have held open and honest discussions with the players. Together, we have found a good solution that considers the interests of the players and the club. We want to finish out the season, and need a minimum squad size for games to go ahead. That is now achievable.” Following the Sunday game on 15 February, another four official games are scheduled.

The club would appreciate the continued support of the fans and hope to see many of them at the stadium. Ice hockey team Heilbronner Falken (‘Heilbronn Falcons’) has been playing in the Upper League South since 2023. The club was founded as Heilbronner Eishockeyclub in 1986, and the men’s professional team was spun off as a separate entity, Heilbronner Falken GmbH & Co. KG, in 2003.
