Download as PDFA sustainable way forward has been found for one of Germany’s oldest biomethane facilities: insolvency administrator Mr Ivo-Meinert Willrodt from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH, together with attorney Ms Marlene Scheinert, has achieved a restructuring by way of an asset deal for Grüngold Biogasanlage Pliening KG. This will ensure that the facility located to the east of Munich will continue to operate.
On 1 October 2026, the Local Court of Weilheim, as the competent court, opened the insolvency proceedings for the assets of operating company Grüngold Biogasanlage Pliening KG and appointed Mr Ivo-Meinert Willrodt as regular administrator. He had already been acting as provisional administrator for the company. The PLUTA team then progressed the investor process that had already been initiated prior to the filing. This process of securing an investor was supported by transaction expert Mr Benjamin Seidlich from Redwood Partners. Following extensive market outreach, the team negotiated with ten interested parties in the end. This process has been concluded with the restructuring by way of an asset deal now implemented. All six employees will be kept on.
“Good outcome for all concerned”
“We have achieved a very good outcome for all concerned with the investor solution. The facility will continue to operate, and we have secured its long-term future,” said insolvency administrator Mr Ivo-Meinert Willrodt. The agreement reached is also in the interests of the creditors, as it will lead to a higher dividend.
biogeen, the investor, has extensive experience in the operation of biomethane plants and believes the conditions are favourable for the facility’s further development. “We are opening up new opportunities for the biomethane facility through this acquisition. We believe strongly in its potential and want to build on the existing structures,” said Mr Andreas Gaun, managing director of biogeen.
Grüngold Biogasanlage Pliening is one of Germany’s oldest biomethane facilities and produces both biomethane and electricity. The raw materials used are sourced from regional agricultural partners.
