Following this, on 22 and 23 July 2025, the court ordered provisional insolvency administration for the companies’ assets and appointed attorney Mr Stefan Meyer from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator.
Medical City Plaza OWL Investment GmbH & Co. KG is the project planning company for Medical City Plaza, a medical centre of excellence planned for Bad Oeynhausen with capacity for up to 20 specialist practices and medical service providers over six floors. While comprehensive medical care is a key element, the construction project is also focused on providing senior-friendly housing offering everything from services and assistance through to nursing care.
The company owns the land and is responsible for the development and implementation of the project, which encompasses a net floor area of approximately 20,500 square metres. It has had to file for insolvency due to liquidity problems caused by delays in decisions by an Italian investor.
Provisional insolvency administrator Mr Stefan Meyer said, “We are in the process of thoroughly familiarising ourselves with this complex project and will conduct in-depth discussions and negotiations with all stakeholders and contracting parties over the coming days and weeks. My aim is to get this stalled project back on track as quickly as possible so that the construction work can resume and the project can be implemented as planned and designed.” The PLUTA team also includes attorney Dr Ria Brüninghoff (a PLUTA partner) and others.
In addition to Medical City Plaza OWL Investment GmbH & Co. KG, sister company Parkhaus am Stadion GmbH & Co. KG is also affected by the insolvency. Unlike the medical centre of excellence, the multi-storey car park with an outdoor area and 234 parking bays has already been built.
