By an order issued on 4 October 2017, the Local Court of Berlin-Charlottenburg has appointed Dr Stephan Thiemann from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as the provisional insolvency administrator for JT Touristik GmbH. Together with his team, the restructuring expert Dr Thiemann is in the process of obtaining an initial overview of the situation.

The aim of the procedure now is to maintain the company’s business operations, to properly organise and carry out all of the ordered and planned trips, and to save the jobs. For this, Dr Thiemann and his team are preparing a comprehensive restructuring concept together with those responsible at the insurer Generali Versicherung AG and at TouRate GmbH. The restructuring expert will also arrange the pre-financing of the insolvency substitute benefits as soon as possible. Employee wages and salaries will be secure for a period of three months thanks to these benefits.

“We are continuing the full scope of business operations. All employees are pulling together with us. Thanks to the outstanding cooperation with the persons responsible at Generali, all trips can be carried out as planned until the end of October,” explained the provisional insolvency administrator Dr Thiemann.

Customers who booked a trip starting on or before 31 October 2017 via JT Touristik or who are currently on a package tour offered by this operator will not suffer any financial loss. These trips, including the return journey, are covered 100 percent by a policy with the previous insurer. Following the first discussions between the attorney Stephan Thiemann in his capacity as the provisional insolvency administrator, JT Touristik GmbH and the insurer Generali Versicherung AG, all trips which were booked by 31 October 2017 with the Berlin-based tour operator will be covered by the insurance. Previously, Generali Versicherung AG had confirmed to those responsible for operating the tours that they would bear the costs for the period starting on 29 September up until a day of departure no later than on 14 October 2017.

JT Touristik GmbH was founded in 2009 and currently has a workforce of 64 employees. The company is an expert for trips to the United Arab Emirates, especially to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. At present, their range of offers includes last minute and package tours as well as hotel specials for more than 15,000 establishments and roughly 150 destinations all over the world. The operator’s tours are being offered at numerous travel portals and over 10,000 travel agencies.

Alongside Dr Thiemann, PLUTA’s restructuring team includes Ms Katja Alexander, Ms Ute Sambale, Mr Stephan Gittel and Mr Heinz-Joachim Hombach.
