PLUTA attorney Peter Roeger launches process of securing investor for packaging specialist ZIRBS

The sole proprietorship ZIRBS Verpackungen is continuing to operate fully, despite having filed for insolvency. Mr Peter Roeger from PLUTA conducted a review of the company’s economic situation on being appointed provisional insolvency administrator. He has now launched the structured process of securing an investor with the aim of finding a long-term continuation solution for the business.

On 30 September 2026, the Local Court of Bayreuth, as the competent court, ordered provisional insolvency administration and appointed attorney Mr Peter Roeger from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator. He and attorney Ms Jacqueline Tilberis have analysed the economic situation in recent days and taken initial measures intended to stabilise operations.

“The business is continuing to operate fully and existing orders are being completed as usual. At the same time, we are now launching the process of securing an investor and will proactively approach potential interested parties. We want to find a long-term solution for ZIRBS,” said PLUTA restructuring expert Mr Peter Roeger.

ZIRBS Verpackungen employs 41 people, who have already been informed about the current situation and the next steps by those in charge. Their wages and salaries are guaranteed for September to November 2026 inclusive thanks to specific substitute benefits from the Federal Employment Agency provided under German insolvency law.

Mr Heike Zirbs, the owner of ZIRBS Verpackungen, said, “Despite the situation in which we find ourselves, we are optimistic about the future. The business is continuing to operate and we have the backing of our customers and staff. Together with the provisional insolvency administrator, we now want to use this opportunity to establish a path forward for our business.”

Individual packaging solutions

ZIRBS Verpackungen develops and produces bespoke packaging components and complete solutions and is active across multiple industries. Its factory is located in Föritztal, on the border between Bavaria and Thuringia. The long-standing business offers a variety of services, from consulting and design through to the development and manufacture of individual packaging solutions. Plastics and cardboard are just some of the materials processed for this. The company manufactures solutions to meet diverse customer requirements, ranging from thermoformed plastic products (e.g. trays and blister packs), folding cardboard boxes and transparent packaging through to packaging that gives the product its shape. Its customers include companies in the confectionery, food, industrial, healthcare and consumer goods sectors.
