Download as PDFMr Christian Heim from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has announced welcome news in the proceedings for Pflegezentrum Breite Straße Hohenlockstedt GmbH: the attorney has achieved a sustainable follow-up solution for the nursing home. The company inter pares Residenz Breite Straße GmbH will acquire the facility’s operations and all assets by way of an asset deal effective 1 August 2025. The purchase agreement was signed in the past week. All jobs will be saved, with 40 employees being kept on. The residents’ continued care is also guaranteed.
Pflegezentrum Breite Straße Hohenlockstedt GmbH filed for insolvency with the Local Court of Itzehoe in early April. The insolvency court then appointed attorney Mr Christian Heim as provisional administrator. On 1 June 2025, the proceedings were opened and PLUTA attorney Mr Heim was appointed regular insolvency administrator. The nursing care facility’s financial difficulties stem primarily from the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, which has prevented it from running at full capacity. This has resulted in low occupancy and loss-making operation. The establishment is well managed and the property is modern.
The Hohenlockstedt nursing home was part of Argentum Holding GmbH, which has been involved in debtor-in-possession insolvency proceedings since early April. The shareholder had previously covered the nursing care facility’s shortfall. Once it entered debtor-in-possession proceedings, however, it became necessary for the facility to file for insolvency. Pflegezentrum Breite Straße Hohenlockstedt GmbH provides a wide range of geriatric, nursing, psychiatric, short-term and long-term care services and caters to the special needs of residents suffering from dementia. The facility has 114 beds across two double rooms and 110 single rooms. It currently has 55 residents. Meals are prepared on the premises in its own kitchen.
“Despite the challenging environment, we have succeeded in finding a viable solution within four months that will ensure the continued care of the residents and safeguard the employees’ jobs. This is a great achievement for all concerned,” said insolvency administrator Mr Christian Heim. The PLUTA team also included attorney Mr Ingo Thurm and business management expert Mr Stefan Ordowski from the Hanover branch.
inter pares Residenz Breite Straße GmbH will maintain and further advance the business operations on a long-term basis. The company is part of inter pares Sozialholding GmbH based in Berlin. The group was co-founded in 2011 by Mr Christian Potthoff, the present main shareholder, and operates various nursing and residential homes for seniors and dependent individuals in several German states. It is expanding its market position by acquiring further full-time residential nursing care facilities and through the provision of adult day care, assisted living and outpatient care services. It is very important to management that the group remains a family-run business.
“We are delighted to add this nursing care facility to our portfolio and want to stabilise and further develop it on a sustainable basis. We therefore intend to hire nursing staff so that we can increase the occupancy rate,” said Ms Katrin Berents-Neumann, managing director of the inter pares Group.
