KLiNGEL brand Meyermode passes to the Popken Fashion Group

21 February 2024 · Pforzheim · Business Area Restructuring

The Meyermode brand has been sold to the Popken Fashion Group with effect from 15 February 2024. Following the MIAMODA and HAPPYsize brands, this is already the third brand sold by K - Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG to this well-known and internationally experienced investor. The creditors’ committee has unanimously approved the transaction.

Third sale to the Popken Fashion Group

The Popken Fashion Group has acquired the fashion brand as well as the associated inventory and domain from the purveyor of plus-size fashion. With the acquisition of Meyermode, MIAMODA and HAPPYsize , the family-run Popken Fashion Group is further expanding its product range. Meyermode is known for its comfortable plus-size womenswear.

Mr Marcus Katholing, PLUTA restructuring expert and KLiNGEL managing director, is pleased with the transaction: “The cooperation with the Popken Fashion Group has gone smoothly and we are delighted that the experienced investor has now also taken over the Meyermode brand. This means that we have succeeded in selling all KLiNGEL brands within just a few months.” Attorney Mr Stefan Warmuth assisted in the negotiations.

The international fashion company based in Rastede in the federal state of Lower Saxony specialises in plus-size fashion. It sells the collections of its four brands – Ulla Popken, Laurasøn, Studio Untold and JP1880 – through online shops and its own stores in over 30 countries.

K - Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG, the KLiNGEL Group’s main company headquartered in Pforzheim, has been involved in debtor-in-possession insolvency proceedings since May 2023. The company is being supported in the proceedings by restructuring firm PLUTA. The insolvency monitor is attorney Mr Martin Mucha from GRUB BRUGGER, a law firm operating throughout Germany. The multi-channel retailer’s operations were discontinued at the end of January 2024 as part of insolvency proceedings. The KLiNGEL Group no longer sells any products; it is currently dealing with processing returns and general after-sales service requests as well as the sale of its remaining fixed assets.
