Scoop Herford Hotelbetriebs GmbH files for insolvency – PLUTA team keeps hotel operating

On 3 December 2025, the Local Court of Augsburg (insolvency court) appointed attorney Mr Georg Jakob Stemshorn from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional insolvency administrator for Scoop Herford Hotelbetriebs GmbH. The company operates the IntercityHotel in Herford. Restructuring expert Mr Stemshorn and attorney Dr André Wehner, his PLUTA colleague, are working with great urgency to stabilise the hotel’s financial situation.

“Despite the application for insolvency, the hotel is continuing to operate. Guests are welcome to check in and enjoy their stay as planned,” said Mr Stemshorn. Attorney Dr Wehner added, “New bookings are also being accepted at this time without restriction. Our goal is to keep the business operating on a stable basis and develop a long-term solution for the hotel.” The company is headquartered in Augsburg, while the hotel is located in Herford. The two experienced restructuring experts from the Augsburg and Herford branches of restructuring firm PLUTA, which operates throughout Germany, are therefore working closely together on these proceedings.

Employee salaries guaranteed

The company has had to file for insolvency due to liquidity problems caused by a number of factors, including exceptional and unexpectedly high additional charges for past energy consumption. The provisional insolvency administrator is currently reviewing the company’s financial situation and holding discussions with key stakeholders to evaluate the prospects for a sustainable continuation. The salaries of the 27 employees are guaranteed for a period of three months thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law.

“We are working on finding a solution for the hotel that will keep it operating in the long term. We have already held initial discussions and those have gone well,” said Mr Stemshorn. The provisional insolvency administrator will review further measures in the coming weeks and agree the next steps with management.
