PLUTA restructuring experts Daniel Barth and Maximilian Wanko seek investor for brewery plant engineering company banke

18 March 2025 · Hallbergmoos · Business Area Insolvency Administration

Within the context of insolvency proceedings, the PLUTA team under attorney Mr Daniel Barth and business lawyer Mr Maximilian Wanko is set to conduct the process of finding an investor for banke GmbH. The company, an innovative supplier of technology for breweries, has been involved in provisional insolvency proceedings since 14 March 2025. The Local Court of Landshut has appointed Mr Daniel Barth from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator.

“The company offers its customers versatile, proven and efficient technology. We have gained an initial overview and will now initiate the search for an investor. We would be pleased to hear from any interested parties and are confident of finding an investor,” said PLUTA restructuring expert Mr Daniel Barth.

The mechanical engineering business remains fully operational and is continuing to handle customer projects. It has a workforce of 31 employees, whose salaries are guaranteed for a period of three months thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. They support the continuation of operations and are backing the company. The business has had to file for insolvency due to the postponement of orders on account of the poor economic situation as well as significant cost increases in projects and the generally weak investment climate.

Company holds many patents

banke GmbH based in Taufkirchen (Vils) supplies state-of-the-art systems for the brewing industry. The company counts world-renowned breweries among its customers and is known for its technologies. For many years, banke has been a leader in hop technology covering the entire brewing process, especially late and dry hopping. Another of its core competences is increasing the efficiency of existing systems through modernisations. It has recently focused on sustainable technologies, such as dealcoholisation, filtration without the use of diatomaceous earth, and, in particular, energy management solutions that not only unlock significant energy savings but also enable fully electrified decarbonisation of entire breweries. Founded in 2006, the company has a large number of patents. Its engineering expertise is based on many years of in-house research and development as well as close cooperation with colleges, universities and institutes.

Managing director Mr Friedrich Banke said, “Our company develops high-quality, sustainable technology for breweries and has been successfully operating in the market for nearly 20 years. Although the current industry environment is not favourable, we have still been able to buck the trend and grow thanks to our technologies and have secured orders. This shows that the business model has growth potential in the medium and long term. We now need an investor who will acquire our company. banke has a good customer structure and a strong international basis.”

M&A advisor Dr Michael Saatmann from INTRION Gesellschaft für Managementberatung mbH is assisting with the targeted search for an investor.
