PLUTA restructuring expert Ingo Thurm finds investor for construction company Dammeyer

5 March 2025 · Hanover · Business Area Insolvency Administration

PLUTA restructuring expert Mr Ingo Thurm has found a sustainable solution in the Dammeyer Bauunternehmen GmbH & Co. KG insolvency proceedings: MTB GmbH from Nordstemmen has acquired the business operations effective 1 March 2025. The insolvency administrator for the building construction firm based in Harsum, Lower Saxony, has therefore achieved a viable continuation solution that benefits both staff and creditors, despite the current challenges in the construction industry.

The investor has kept on 21 employees and acquired all assets by way of an asset deal. The parties involved have agreed not to disclose further details, such as the purchase price. The Harsum family-run business had to file for insolvency due to financial difficulties. Together with his team under attorney Mr Günther Hahn and Mr Stefan Ordowski, a business economist and controlling expert, Mr Thurm kept the company fully operational after the application for insolvency had been filed. “We have worked hard over recent weeks to give the business future prospects. The investor solution that has now been found will ensure that the expertise and jobs are retained,” explained Mr Thurm, a specialist attorney.

The Local Court of Hildesheim, as the competent court, opened the insolvency proceedings on 1 March 2025 and appointed Mr Ingo Thurm from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as regular administrator. He had already been acting as provisional insolvency administrator for the construction company since January 2025.

“Best possible outcome achieved”

“The construction industry finds itself in a challenging situation. I am therefore all the more delighted that we have been able to achieve the best possible solution for the staff and creditors following constructive negotiations,” added Mr Thurm. An important milestone in the insolvency proceedings has been reached with the transfer to the new investor. Creditors can now file their claims for registration in the insolvency schedule. Afterwards, the team will comprehensively review these claims and other legal rights.

Going forward, the business activities will be continued under MTB GmbH and the company headquarters in Harsum will be preserved. Mr Mayk Taherian, managing director of MTB GmbH, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome: “With our acquisition of Dammeyer, we are expanding our company and our range of services. This will allow us to be even more flexible in meeting individual requirements and requests while still offering first-class quality and tailored solutions. We are looking forward to all of the upcoming projects.”

MTB GmbH is a construction company that handles complex infrastructure projects and specialises in civil and structural engineering as well as railway construction. The family-run company provides services in relation to station platform construction, underground cabling, level crossings, track superstructures, culvert rehabilitation and civil engineering.
