PLUTA restructuring expert Dr Ria Brüninghoff appointed provisional administrator for Strathmann Holz

14 January 2026 · Bünde, Germany · Business Area Insolvency Administration

On 30 December 2025, the Local Court of Bielefeld ordered provisional insolvency administration for the assets of Strathmann Holz GmbH & Co. KG and appointed attorney Dr Ria Brüninghoff from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator.

The company based in Bünde operates in the timber trade and construction industry and has many years of experience. It supplies both business and private customers with wood of various types for almost every application – from parquet flooring, solid wood planks, plywood panels, worktops, formwork and drywall products to insulation materials.

Company continuing to operate

The company has a workforce of 29 employees, whose salaries are guaranteed until the end of February 2026 thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. It has had to file for insolvency due to a tight liquidity situation. Logistics costs have increased, impacting its competitiveness. Its liquidity position has been further burdened by rising outstanding receivables, as agreed payment periods have increasingly been fully utilised or even exceeded. Strathmann Holz is continuing to operate normally in the meantime. Its specialist store in Bünde is also open for business as usual. In recent days, the relevant parties have held honest and constructive discussions with business partners, who support the continuation of operations.

Managing director Mr Klaus Strathmann said, “Our company is a well-established business with a committed team. Conditions in the industry are tough at this time; we are working with the PLUTA administration team to find a long-term solution.”

PLUTA attorney Dr Ria Brüninghoff said, “We have gained an initial overview and stabilised operations. All customers are receiving their deliveries as usual. Our next step will be to create a long-term vision for the business.”

The PLUTA team also comprises attorney Dr André Wehner and business lawyer Mr Tim Austmeyer.
