PLUTA attorney Peter Roeger keeps Herz and Westend pharmacies in Schweinfurt operational

Pharmacies Herz Apotheke and Westend Apotheke in Schweinfurt have filed for insolvency. On 4 October 2024, the Local Court of Schweinfurt ordered provisional insolvency administration for the assets of the pharmacies, which are run as sole proprietorships, and appointed Mr Peter Roeger from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator.

Pharmacies open as usual

PLUTA restructuring expert Mr Roeger said, “The most important news is that both pharmacies are continuing to operate and are open as normal. Staff are still there for customers. We have an experienced, motivated team and the cooperation with all stakeholders is going smoothly. The main supplier has pledged to continue delivering to us as necessary.”

The PLUTA team has already initiated the process of securing pre-financing of the substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. The salaries of the 32 staff across the two pharmacies are therefore guaranteed for a period of three months. PLUTA attorney Mr Roeger is being supported in the proceedings by attorney Ms Jacqueline Tilberis.

Owner Mr Dieter Hümmer said, “Our staff and business partners remain committed to us even at this difficult time, which I greatly appreciate. This means our customers can continue to rely on our professional advice and full product availability. We hope that plenty of customers will visit us in the coming weeks and support us at this time.” The owner is now working together with the provisional insolvency administrator and his team on a solution to preserve the pharmacies. This also involves a close analysis of their financial position.

The Herz pharmacy is open as usual from 08:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday, and the Westend pharmacy from 08:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. In addition to a free prescription collection service, the pharmacies also offer a courier service and have a large inventory with a wide range of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
