Download as PDFOn 19 December 2024, the Local Court of Nuremberg ordered provisional insolvency administration for the assets of Riffelmacher & Weinberger Christbaumschmuck-Fabrik GmbH & Co. KG based in Roth, Middle Franconia, and appointed attorney Mr Daniel Barth from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator. He said, “The most important message for customers is that business operations have been maintained without restriction. The company is seamlessly continuing to produce and distribute decorations. All Riffelmacher & Weinberger products are available to wholesalers and therefore the retail trade as normal.”
The company’s seasonal decorations are also still on display for customers at its showroom in Roth and another in Brühl, near Cologne. Provisional insolvency administrator Mr Daniel Barth has been working with business lawyer Mr Maximilian Wanko to gain an overview of the company’s financial situation and hold discussions with business partners. The long-standing company based in Roth, near Nuremberg, specialises in manufacturing and selling seasonal decorations. Riffelmacher & Weinberger has an extensive range of products for Advent, Christmas and Easter at its own 10,000 m² distribution centre in Roth. The company currently employs 42 people.
“We want to identify a solution that is in the best interests of the company, creditors and staff,” said attorney Mr Barth. One potential scenario would be to find an investor that will secure the long-term future of the business. Another conceivable outcome is an agreement with creditors within the framework of an insolvency plan. “We will carefully consider every option,” he added.
Employee salaries guaranteed
The salaries of the employees are guaranteed for a period of three months thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. The provisional insolvency administrator has already arranged for the pre-financing of these benefits, ensuring that the salaries will still be paid as normal.
Riffelmacher & Weinberger (R&W) is a long-standing wholesaler and producer of seasonal decorations – specifically, items for Christmas as well as products for Easter, weddings and other occasions. The company was left with no choice but to file for insolvency given liquidity problems caused by the macroeconomic environment and declining sales.
“At R&W, we offer our business partners an excellent, individual service and comprehensive personal support. We are dedicated to continuously reinventing our offering and are already working hard on our new collection for 2025. We now want to take the opportunity afforded by these proceedings to put our business on a viable footing, and we will support the provisional insolvency administrator to the best of our abilities,” stated managing director Mr Michael Eitel. R&W has been synonymous with quality, reliability and service excellence for over 100 years. It has remained a traditional, family-run business since its founding in 1921 to the present day.
