Debtor-in-possession restructuring proceedings: fashion retailer Yeans Halle realigns itself; PLUTA partner Steffen Beck engaged as chief restructuring officer

24 July 2026 · Stuttgart, Germany · Business Area Restructuring

Trender Jeansmode GmbH & Co. Sportswear Großhandels-KG is pressing ahead with its restructuring. The brick-and-mortar fashion retailer is taking a comprehensive range of measures in response to the persistently challenging economic conditions in its sector. The aim of the restructuring is to further improve the company’s cost structure, put it on a more efficient footing and establish the conditions needed to ensure the sustainable continuation of the Yeans Halle stores.

The restructuring process is being implemented within the framework of debtor-in-possession proceedings. Attorney Mr Steffen Beck from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has been engaged as chief restructuring officer (CRO) for the group. The local court has appointed attorney Dr Tibor Daniel Braun from IBK Illig Braun Kirschnek Rechtsanwälte PartGmbB as provisional insolvency monitor.

All of the company’s 13 stores remain fully operational, and customers can continue to shop there as usual. The wages and salaries of the approximately 200 employees are also guaranteed.

Challenging economic situation for the industry

The fashion industry is currently grappling with a combination of weak consumer demand, rising operating costs and intensive competition. These trends are posing significant challenges for brick-and-mortar retailers in particular and increasing the pressure to adapt to changing market conditions.

The company successfully concluded initial restructuring proceedings within the framework of an insolvency plan in December 2024. All of the measures envisaged at the time were implemented. However, the challenging economic environment in brick-and-mortar fashion retailing, weak consumer demand and increased operating costs have again placed the company under considerable strain. It was also significantly impacted by a cyberattack in 2025, which resulted in both substantial costs and a further decline in sales.

During the present proceedings, comprehensive restructuring measures and a management team reorganisation are now planned to bolster the restructuring with the existing expertise within the company and establish the conditions for its sustainable continuation.

Implementation of necessary restructuring measures

“The debtor-in-possession proceedings give us the opportunity to continue pursuing the planned restructuring strategy and take the measures needed to safeguard the company’s future prospects while providing security for its employees, customers and suppliers,” said Mr Steffen Beck, chief restructuring officer as part of the debtor-in-possession proceedings. The PLUTA team also comprises attorneys Mr Jonas Scheble and Mr Jannik Stephan as well as business lawyer Ms Sarah Dingler.

The provisional insolvency monitor is overseeing the restructuring proceedings and representing the interests of the creditors.
