Download as PDFIn the insolvency proceedings for Dörrmann Bau GmbH, insolvency administrator Mr Patrick Meyerle from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has found an investor despite difficult conditions. Effective 1 April 2025, the family-run GS Schenk Group headquartered in Fürth has acquired construction company Dörrmann based in the municipality of Berg bei Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (Upper Palatinate).
PLUTA attorney Mr Patrick Meyerle is pleased with the successful outcome: “With GS Schenk, we have found a solution that not only makes economic sense but above all also has regard to the interests of the employees. In a challenging industry environment, it is a very positive sign that jobs are being saved here and opportunities created. The cooperation with all stakeholders was consistently purposeful and everyone was focused on finding a solution.” The PLUTA team also includes Mr Dino Eglinski, Master of Laws (LL.M.).
On 1 April 2025, the Local Court of Nuremberg opened insolvency proceedings for the company’s assets and appointed Mr Patrick Meyerle as regular administrator. He had already been involved as provisional administrator since 24 January 2025. The PLUTA team had kept the business operational in the meantime and launched the process of finding an investor, which has now been successfully concluded.
Acquisition as an investment
The buyer will keep on almost the full complement of employees and take over all ongoing orders. Indeed, GS Schenk extended an offer to every one of the 40 employees, which all but a few accepted. It will employ them under the same terms to carry out superstructure and civil works. Mr Alexander Dörrmann, the present owner and managing director, will take up a new role as senior site manager at GS Schenk.
The acquisition is taking place in a challenging environment for the construction industry. Medium-sized construction companies in particular are feeling the pinch from rising costs, uncertain conditions and a significant decline in residential construction. Despite its decades in the market and reliable construction quality, the Dörrmann company based in Upper Palatinate was not able to escape the impact and had to file for insolvency.
Mr Andreas Eckert, managing partner at GS Schenk, considers the acquisition a strategic move: “There’s no question that the industry is currently under pressure. It is therefore all the more important that we act now and take courageous decisions with a focus on the future. Our order situation is stable, and we are investing in our operational capacity by adding experienced skilled workers to our ranks. These well-trained and capable experts are exactly what we need for our construction activities – and we are delighted to welcome them to our team.”
Mr Alexander Dörrmann is also optimistic about the new opportunities ahead: “The insolvency was a difficult step, but I am thankful that we are moving forward – for our clients and especially my staff. The acquisition by Schenk was the ideal solution, as this long-standing company shares our values and will benefit from the skills of our people. I am myself thrilled to become part of this team.”
GS Schenk is a medium-sized family business with 420 employees, making it one of the largest employers in the construction industry in the region. The construction company is celebrating 111 years in business in 2025.
