Download as PDFOn 24 October 2025, the Local Court of Charlottenburg ordered provisional insolvency administration for the assets of Pflegewerk Berlin GmbH and appointed attorney Mr Frank Brachwitz from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator. The outpatient care provider has been fully operational ever since and is continuing to provide reliable support and care to the people in need of its services.
Care provider runs five social care centres in Berlin
Pflegewerk Berlin GmbH has around 420 employees who look after people in need of care in Berlin on a daily basis. It runs five social care centres in Friedrichshain, Neukölln, Reinickendorf, Tempelhof and Wedding, offering a wide range of services aimed at people requiring various types of geriatric and nursing care.
Mr Frank Brachwitz of PLUTA said, “The business has been operating without restrictions since provisional insolvency administration was ordered. The employees’ regular wages and salaries are guaranteed thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law, for which pre-financing has already been arranged. Our primary aim at this time is to ensure the care provider has a viable future. We are therefore reviewing various restructuring options, including the preparation of an insolvency plan, that might keep the care provider operating in the long term.” In addition to attorney Mr Brachwitz, the PLUTA restructuring team comprises attorney Mr Nicolas Konkel, who is helping the provisional insolvency administrator with the ongoing operation of the business.
Positive restructuring outlook and excellent staff cohesion
The care provider is on a solid footing and has both a highly dedicated management team and a good reputation in Berlin. Many of its staff have been with it for a long time and there is excellent cohesion among them. The administrator will work with management to develop a restructuring plan with a view to preserving the business and its 420 jobs.
Managing director Mr Georgios Giannakopoulos said, “We would like to sincerely thank our team for their efforts under these particular circumstances. Our staff are ensuring that everyone in need of our services can still rely on our care. We are working with the provisional insolvency administrator to secure the company’s future.”
