PLUTA restructuring expert Stefan Meyer appointed provisional administrator for Möllers

28 January 2021 · Münster/Beckum · Business Area Insolvency Administration

Maschinenfabrik Möllers GmbH from Beckum has filed for insolvency. On 26 January 2021, the Local Court of Münster appointed attorney Mr Stefan Meyer from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional insolvency administrator.

Restructuring expert Mr Stefan Meyer and his team are now in the process of gaining an overview of the financial position of this mechanical engineering company with an international footprint. Möllers will remain fully operational. The salaries of the almost 200 employees are guaranteed for a period of three months thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. The employees were already informed about the current situation and the next steps planned during a staff meeting.

The company manufactures filling and packaging installations as well as other bespoke products for customers all over the world. It generated sales revenues of some 31 million euros in the last financial year reported. The coronavirus pandemic brought with it major challenges in 2020, which have persisted this year. Many orders have been postponed, while it has not been possible to complete others at this time given the serious travel restrictions in place. The company ultimately had to file for insolvency due to liquidity problems.

Managing director Dr Ulf Osmers said, “The situation is very challenging at this time, due to COVID-19 and other factors. We will provide strong support to the provisional insolvency administrator and his team over the coming weeks. I am confident that we will find a long-term solution for our well-established company.”

PLUTA expert Mr Stefan Meyer explained, “Maschinenfabrik Möllers is a long-standing company with well trained and highly motivated employees and good products. Its international focus, with customers in 80 countries around the world, is extremely interesting and a good basis for future solutions. We will take a close look at the situation over the coming days and weeks and work with management and the motivated local team to adapt the company to the new conditions.” Mr Meyer added, “Our aim is to stabilise the company, ensure it has a long-term future and safeguard people’s jobs as best as possible.” Provisional insolvency administrator Mr Meyer will be supported during the proceedings by a PLUTA team that includes attorneys Dr Ria Brüninghoff and Mr Christoph Chrobok and business lawyer Mr Tim Austmeyer.
