PLUTA attorney Dr Thiemann sells Deskcenter software to mosaic IT GmbH

21 August 2026 · Leipzig, Germany · Business Area Insolvency Administration

In the insolvency proceedings for Deskcenter AG, attorney Dr Stephan Thiemann from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH yesterday sold the intellectual property rights to mosaic IT GmbH. The agreement includes software, source code, trademark rights, the associated domains and more. The parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction.

The sale of the software and related rights also gives customers a positive outlook: mosaic IT GmbH will soon make Deskcenter customers an offer that will allow them to continue using the software. Customers can also read about this at www.deskcenter.com and www.mosaic-it.de.

As a service provider, mosaic IT GmbH bundles security and cloud solutions designed to safeguard and optimise customers’ business processes. It too is headquartered in Leipzig and has already been working with Deskcenter AG for many years.

“It was important to us to find a solution that would preserve the value of the software, while giving customers a positive outlook. We have created a sound basis for this with the sale to mosaic IT GmbH,” said insolvency administrator Dr Stephan Thiemann.

Mr Michael Bölk, manging director of mosaic IT GmbH, said, “Both companies have already worked hand in hand, so this was a logical step for us. We are pleased to have quickly reached a solution that not only usefully expands our security portfolio but also gives Deskcenter customers a way to continue using the software.”

Best possible value in the interests of the creditors

The Local Court of Leipzig, as the competent court, opened the insolvency proceedings for the assets of Deskcenter AG and appointed attorney Dr Stephan Thiemann from PLUTA as insolvency administrator on 1 August 2026. The restructuring team and management had already held numerous discussions with potential investors during the provisional insolvency proceedings. Ultimately, an acquisition could not be completed as investor financing could not be secured in time. To the regret of those in charge, the business had to cease trading in early August due to the lack of an investor.

The software has significant technological value. “We marketed the assets in a targeted manner and have achieved the best possible value in the interests of the creditors with this sale,” said PLUTA attorney Mr Heinz-Joachim Hombach, who is working alongside Mr Norman Scheller in the administrator’s restructuring team. Mr Enrico Noack from TRINUS-Restrukturierung GmbH also provided support.
