PLUTA attorney Dr André Wehner seeks investor for Windmann Glas

29 September 2026 · Lübbecke, Germany · Business Area Insolvency Administration

Windmann GmbH & Co. KG (also known as Windmann Glas) from Herford has filed for insolvency. On 27 September 2026, the Local Court of Bielefeld ordered provisional insolvency administration for the company’s assets and appointed attorney Dr André Wehner from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional administrator.

The family business was established in Herford in 1909 and is a well-known glass processing company. Windmann Glas is now owned and headed by the fourth generation of the family, namely Mr Sören Amann, who is a great-grandson of the founder. The long-standing business specialises in manufacturing glass and mirror components for the furniture and shopfitting industries. Windmann Glas also offers bespoke, handcrafted glass solutions for interior and exterior use.

The company has had to file for insolvency due to liquidity problems. The weak economy, subdued investment activity and rising energy costs have put considerable pressure on the business recently. The managing director, Mr Sören Amann, has therefore filed for insolvency to facilitate a restructuring within the framework of insolvency proceedings.

Mr Amann said, “We will support the provisional insolvency administrator over the coming months. Our employees have been showing great commitment during this difficult period. We are now working together to find a solution for our company.”

Operations continuing

Dr André Wehner, the provisional administrator, has visited the business and made an important decision that Windmann Glas will continue to operate. He has already taken the initial steps for this.

Windmann GmbH & Co. KG employs 36 people, whose salaries are guaranteed for a period of three months to the end of November thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. Managing director Mr Sören Amann and provisional insolvency administrator Dr André Wehner informed the works council and employees about the current situation at a staff meeting.

The PLUTA team, which also comprises attorney Dr Marc-Arno Scheuß, will now arrange for pre-financing of the aforementioned benefits so that the salaries can be paid as usual.

In addition to stabilising business operations, the provisional insolvency administrator will conduct the process of finding an investor over the coming weeks. The aim is to continue to reliably fulfil orders, explore the restructuring options and secure the company’s long-term future with the support of an investor.
