Fine-dining restaurant ‘5’ moves to restore financial viability

15 July 2025 · Stuttgart · Business Area Insolvency Administration

Management at Neresheim-based ZEDO GmbH, the operator of the ‘5’ gourmet bar and restaurant in the heart of Stuttgart, has filed for the opening of debtor-in-possession insolvency proceedings with the Local Court of Aalen. The court has approved the application and appointed attorney Mr Steffen Beck from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional insolvency monitor.

“We are optimistic about the chances for restoring this fine-dining restaurant’s financial viability using the instruments available under the German Insolvency Code,” said Mr Dirk Eichelbaum, a restructuring consultant from dhmp Restrukturierung who is supporting ZEDO management.

“We will oversee the proceedings in the interests of the creditors and hold discussions now with management on the restaurant’s economic situation. The aim is to find a long-term solution,” said provisional insolvency monitor Mr Steffen Beck from PLUTA.

Reservations are still valid, and the wages and salaries of the almost 30 staff and trainees are guaranteed until September 2025 inclusive thanks to specific substitute benefits provided under German insolvency law. Vouchers can no longer be redeemed due to insolvency law restrictions.
